3D Mats Car Floor Mat Review

High-quality floor mats were part of a successful interior refresh on Drive Break Fix Repeat’s Project Civic Si.

After a recent track day blunder, Project Civic Si was in desperate need of an interior rejuvenation. During this deep clean it also proved to be the ideal time to refresh a few components in the interior, as well.

California-based 3D Mats — a supplier of high-quality, custom-fit automotive interior pieces — supplied DBFR with a complete set of their Kagu all-weather floor liners to replace the tatty, original mats that were in the Si. The complete set covers the entire interior, including the driver front, passenger front and second row mats.

A stickler for quality on aftermarket parts of any variety, the Kagu-series of floor liners display solid, OEM-like fitment, and have a few thoughtful design points that were appreciated. The satin finish matches up nicely with other interior pieces so as not to stick out unnaturally. Additionally, the driver side mat accounts for the factory-installed floor-mounted hooks for the original Honda mats, providing more flush fitment. Then there are some ergonomics at play: like the non-slip outer layer of the multi-layer construction and the integrated heel pad at the base of the pedals — a common wear point on cars with a manual transmission — that improves long-term durability.
