Introductions and New Beginnings: Drive, Break, Fix, Repeat
Welcome to Drive, Break, Fix, Repeat.
The first step always seems to be the hardest.
It’s an adage that applies to just about everything in life, and with Drive, Break, Fix, Repeat, my new little corner of the internet, this is proving to be no exception.
My name is Jake Stumph and I am a car nerd. Always have been, always will be. That fascination with the automobile has grown from dreaming of supercars as a kid, to, sometimes, driving them, and getting paid to talk about it, whether it be via writing or on video.
However, while I have gone far and pushed myself through other outlets, I haven’t really had a spot to call my own. Well, except for my YouTube channel. No, I wanted a place where I could say or write whatever I pleased, on my own terms. And, after sitting around trying to think of a clever name that hadn’t already been claimed, I ended up with Drive, Break, Fix, Repeat. So, now I am pushing through that first step, and focusing my writing efforts here. Consider the first step now taken.
Where does Drive, Break, Fix, Repeat come from?
It’s a motto, and one that many car enthusiasts know well.
My passion for cars has evolved over time, and I have channeled it into outlets like autocross, track days and drifting. So, when I’m not wheeling around press cars owned by the car manufacturers, I’m pushing my own personal cars as hard as possible, and often to the breaking point.
Drive, break, fix and repeat. If I want to drive my cars to the ragged edge, I have to be ready to fix them when they break, which is often, especially when those cars are built on a shoestring budget. As I write this, my drift car is currently broken. Naturally, I will soon fix it, go to the track, burn through a dozen more cheap tires, break something else, and have the cycle continue. The name seems fitting.
What can we expect from DBFR?
A ton of original content. Whether it be car reviews, new or old; track car builds; automotive news, and, really anything that fascinates me, or the occasional guest contributor who wants to jump in and talk about what’s on their mind.
The first feature story involves the 2020 Lotus Evora GT, and will be out very soon, so look forward to that.
